Special NC/SC Rules

1. All teams can use a designated hitter and an extra hitter in all ages 13U and above in North and South Carolina. This means they can use either DH or EH or both.

2. All games will have time limits set by the director.

3. 9U teams will play modified stealing rules.

4. All baseball tournaments will use a pool play format. Tournament director will furnish baseballs.

International Tie-Breaker

If the game is still tied after regulation time or regulation innings, then the International Tie-Breaker shall be put into effect once completing the last inning of the tie. The new inning shall begin with the last player to have an official at-bat in the previous inning shall go to 2nd base to start the new inning with no outs, balls, and strikes. The game shall be played until conclusion of winner.

Note: This rule applies to all games (including Silver/Bronze Championship Game), except the regular and Gold Championship game.

This rule is mandatory in SC events and optional in NC events (Crystal Carolina Sports events will be using International Tie-Breaker).

NC/SC Fall Season

Players on teams that quit playing until the spring will be able to play on another team. They will be allowed to go back to their original team in the spring. This is being done so players that want to play baseball in the fall while the rest of their original team is doing soccer, football, etc. will not be penalized.

Forfeit Procedure

Games in progress that are forfeited in pool play:
The moment the game is declared a forfeit. The game score is official no matter who is the winner for seeding purposes based on runs allowed. Example 1: If a team lost 4-6, & are declared official winner by forfeit. they would receive the win, & the score remains 4-6 for seeding based on runs allowed. Example 2: If a team won 8-3, & are declared official winner by forfeit. The game score remains 8-3.

Games not played that are forfeited in pool play:

The team receiving the forfeit shall be considered to win by 1 run.  The game score shall be recorded with the number of runs allowed being the average of the runs allowed in all other pool games.  If the team has only played 1 other pool game, the number of runs allowed will be equal to the runs allowed in that game.  Example, if a team wins their first pool game by a score of 7-4, the forfeit would be scored as a win of 5-4.  Example 2:  If a team lost their first game 10-5, the forfeit would be scored as a 11-10 win.  Example 3:  If the team won their first pool game 7-4 and lost the second pool game 10-5, the forfeit would be recorded as a 8-7 win (4 runs + 10 runs divided 2 = 7).

Games that are forfeited in Bracket Play:
If a team forfeits a game in bracket play in a single elimination bracket. The team will not move ahead in the bracket, & team winning the forfeit will advance in the bracket. If there is a consolation game. The team losing the forfeit will be able to play that game.
The score at the time of forfeit will be official, even if team winning forfeit is losing game. The team will still receive win. This done in case of seeding needed to be done in bracket play for whatever reason. Example 1: If a team is losing 5-7, & is declared game winner due to forfeit. They will advance on in the bracket, but score will remain 5-7 in case of seeding due to an advanced bracket after current bracket, or weather situation. Example 2:
If a team is winning 6-3, & is declared game winner due to forfeit. They  will advance on in the bracket, but score will remain 6-3 in case of seeding due to an advanced bracket after current bracket, or weather situation.
